All The Right Moves

Our family had moved from a small town in Pennsylvania in 1980 to Massachusetts. The things I noted as a young boy was the fear in the late 1970's with high gas prices and a depressed state of our old town in south central PA. Things in the early 80's were kinda 180 degrees from today in many ways as financial assets had been in a 15-16 year bear market with the 10 year US Treasury yielding over 15%.
Football season is upon us in The United States. Take a look at the concentration of NFL teams / towns throughout the country. Consider the demographic changes and what industries used to produce. My parents left Detroit in the early 60's for Phoenix, AZ. At the time it was a radical move and possibly much like moving to another country...
Another lesson I learned well is 'don't confuse a bull market with brains.'
Capital is required to build new dreams. Unlike 35 years ago when financial centers dominated new ventures access to information and the flow of funds may be possible in new markets.
Many elements on the periodic table are made up of essential metals created from extraction businesses in a depression where the price of the metal in inventory is higher than the cost of production (liquidation). Two things will happen. Either we will stop using things like nickel, zinc or copper or the price is going to change. The rapid change to clean energy embraced by The New Silk Road (China et al) is compelling and may be very good for those positioning & comprehending what will be needed (batteries). What we use as 'money' and 'capital' may continue to rapidly change as the markets evolve into a 'Brave New World.'
Good hunting.
